WERNICK, Justice.
On March 8, 1978 plaintiff Nancy Mac-Dougall obtained a judgment of divorce from the District Court (District 8) which also ordered defendant Charles MacDoogall to pay her the sum of seven thousand dollars “in lieu of alimony.” See 19 M.R.S.A. § 721 (Supp.1978). Defendant appealed from the judgment, as entered, to the Superior Court (Androscoggin County), contending that the lump sum award was made erroneously in that it rested on a valuation assigned to certain real property notwithstanding that the record was barren of evidence as to such value.
