On December 12, 2013, a grand jury indictment charged Rene Marquez-Perez (“Marquez”) with three counts of possession of narcotics with intent to distribute, in violation of 21 U.S.C. § 841(a)(1); one count of possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 924(c); and one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 922(g)(1).
