Respondent-Appellant Neville Massie, as Warden of the Mabel Bassett Correctional Center (the “State”), appeals the district court’s grant of a writ of habeas corpus to Petitioner-Appellee Holly Wingfield (“Petitioner” or “Holly”). The district court granted the writ after determining that Petitioner had been convicted of murdering her eighteen-month old sister, Crete, upon constitutionally insufficient evidence. We granted the State’s application for a stay of the district court order pending this appeal, and we now exercise jurisdiction under 28 U.S.C. § 1291 (1994) and…
