The defendant, Michael P. Kaludis, was indicted along with two other individuals on two counts of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance in violation of section 401 of the Illinois Controlled Substances Act (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1983, ch. 56V2, par. 1401). One count alleged that the defendant and one codefendant delivered more than 30 grams of a substance containing methaqualone, and the other count alleged that the defendant and the other codefendant delivered less than 10 grams of a substance containing cocaine.
