The plaintiff brought an action to recover damages for injuries sustained by him in a collision with an automobile driven by the defendant at the intersection of Williams Avenue and Bussell Street, in Portland, contending that the defendant was driving- at a reckless and unlawful rate of speed. For the purpose of proving negligence in that respect, the plaintiff offered some ordinances of the City of Portland limiting the speed of such vehicles in the city to a maximum rate of 15 miles per hour in general graded to 10 miles per *586hour within the fire…
