The object of this suit is to recover the value of certain goods or merchandise, which came into the hands of the sheriff of the parish and city of New-Orleans, and was by him sold by the consent of parties interested in them. The petition contains allegations of gross fraud in the manner by which they were obtained from the plaintiff by one Bernard M. Devit, acting for his firm of Robert & B. M. Devit, under semblance of a purchase which was made with a view to cheat and defraud the seller — the purchasers having neither the means or intention…
