The question for decision is whether an employee who is injured in the course of his employment, and, without the knowledge and consent of his employer or the employer’s insurer, makes a valid settlement with a .third party against whom he has a claim for damages for his injury, and executes a full and complete release to the latter, is thereby debarred *1054from compensation under the Workmen’s Compensation Act. (Michie’s Code of 1942, secs. 1887 (1) et seq., Acts 1918, ch. 400, p. 637, as amended.)
