PRYOR, Associate Judge:

Appellant, Ellwood T. Hughes, brought a negligence action against the District of Columbia 1 to recover damages for personal injuries sustained when he was assaulted while an inmate of Lorton Reformatory. The ease was tried before a jury. At the close of the evidence, a directed verdict was granted in favor of the District of Columbia. Appellant contends, on appeal, that the evidence adduced at trial was sufficient to warrant submission of the case to the jury, and that the trial court erred by directing a verdict.
