The dispositive issue in this appeal1 is whether the trial court properly concluded that the *71plaintiffs, a group of 114 retired firefighters and widows of retired firefighters2 for the named defendant, the city of Waterbury (city), have a vested right to the specific medical benefits prescribed under the collective bargaining agreement in effect at the time that the firefighters retired.
