GRANT, Justice.

Nguyen Due Vu was tried by a jury on two charges of murder. He was found guilty of the lesser included offenses of voluntary manslaughter for the shooting death of his father and stepmother. He admitted the shootings, but contended that he shot them in self-defense after being beaten. The jury set punishment at twenty years in the Texas Department of Corrections for each offense and a fine of $10,000.

Due Vu contends that the court committed reversible error in refusing to instruct the jury about the law of parole and good time as required by Tex.Code Crim.Proc. Ann. art. 37.07,…
