I. Introduction

Plaintiff Sandra Bell filed suit against the Zurich American Insurance Company for breach of contract and tortious failure to act in good faith. (Doc. No. 1). Zurich American did not file an answer or otherwise appear and, after the clerk of court entered default, I granted Bell’s motion for default judgment. (Doc. No. 10). On November 18, 2015,1 held a hearing to determine the appropriate amount of damages. For the reasons stated below, I conclude Bell is entitled to $146,979.50 in compensatory damages,…
