We granted this appeal primarily to determine whether Tennessee common law includes a law enforcement investigative privilege (“law enforcement privilege”) which operates to exempt from disclosure governmental records that would otherwise be accessible via the Tennessee Public Records Act (“Public Records Act”). See Tenn.Code Ann. § 10-7-503 (Supp.2006). 1 We hold that Tennessee common law does not include the law enforcement privilege and that it should not be adopted herein.
