The United States Court of Claims and the United States District Courts have concurrent jurisdiction over back pay claims by government employees not exceeding $10,-000 in amount. Plaintiffs whose damages exceed $10,000 may waive all claims greater than $10,000 in order to establish the jurisdiction of the District Court. In these cases appellants Goble and Preston, Army reserve officers who contend that they were improperly released from active duty, filed waivers in an attempt to remain in the District Court.
