MANTON, District Judge.

This is an appeal from an order of deportation entered against the defendant by a commissioner. The defendant, a Chinese person, without proper paper showing his right to be and remain in the United States, is a laborer. On September 4, 1915, together with three other Chinamen, he was apprehended while surreptitiously entering the United States from Canada, at Detroit. After arrest by an immigration inspector, a hearing was had, and after statement made by the defendant, to which reference is had in this proceeding, he was ordered deported to China, the country from…
