You request our opinion regarding the duties of a filing officer pursuant to the uniform commercial code provisions on secured transactions, K.S.A. 84-9-101 et seq. Specifically, you ask whether a filing officer may refuse to file a financing statement which does not include the social security number (SSN) or the federal employer identification number (FEIN) of the debtor.
