Today the majority limits the scope of habeas corpus to those errors that are “jurisdictional,” “fundamental,” or “constitutional.” In doing so, the Court effectively overrules one hundred years of precedent. This Court has long held that habeas corpus is an appropriate remedy to attack a void judgment or sentence.
