BYE, Circuit Judge.

Phillip Alexander Johnston pleaded guilty to a drug conspiracy charge in violation of 21 U.S.C. §§ 841 and 846, and an attempt to escape from custody charge in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 751. The district court 1 sentenced Johnston, who had two prior felony drug convictions, to life in prison pursuant to the enhancement provisions of 21 U.S.C. § 841(b)(1)(A). 2 Johnston challenges, on several grounds, the use of the two prior convictions to impose a mandatory life sentence.
