The plaintiff initiated this action to recover the value of medical services rendered plus interest at the rate of 6 percent per year. By way of special defense, the defendant asserts that the plaintiff's failure to disclose the cost of credit was a violation of General Statutes §§ 36-393 through 36-417, the state Truth-in-Lending Act. The defendant claims attorneys' fees and, by way of recoupment, twice the amount of the finance charge which is the penalty for nondisclosure under the act. General Statutes § 36-407.
