This is an appeal from judgments for the defendant in two separate actions for damages brought against the District of Columbia. The cases were consolidated for trial in the Supreme Court of the District. Both grew out of a single accident occurring at a grade crossing in Takoma Park in the District where the tracks of the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad pass over a public highway known as Chestnut Street.
