A school tax was levied upon the taxable property of Dubuque County, under and by virtue of the provision of the school law of 1858, from which was collected $4,445.86. Agreeably to the terms of § 32, Session Laws of 1858, p. 70, the County Judge divided the one-half of this sum in equal amounts among all the school districts within the county. The other half he divided among the school districts in proportion to the number of persons in each, between the ages of five and twenty-one years.
