This is an appeal from a conviction of murder in the first degree, where the proof consisted entirely of circumstantial evidence. ' The defendant is a physician, fifty-nine years of age, who had acquired prominence in the vicinity where he had resided for many years and was connected with a number of organizations. He was charged with having killed his wife, who was much younger than he and possessed of quite an inheritance from her mother, lately deceased.
