The purpose of this suit is to obtain compensation for assisting the defendant in purchasing certain timber lands. The plaintiff testified that he lived in Spokane, that he is engaged in the lumber and timber business, and for some years has been well acquainted with much of the timber located in northern Idaho; that on a certain day he met the defendant in Spokane, and that the latter told him that
