The above cross-libels wore filed to recover the damages sustained by the respective owners of the steamer Noordland, of the Red Star Line, and of the steamship Servia, of the Cunard Line, through a collision which took place between those steamers in the Hudson river, at about 2:44 p. m. of January 30, 1886, some 200 or 800 yards from the ends of the piers, and about opposite Liberty street. Both steamers had started to proceed to sea upon their regular trips.
