PUBLISHED OPINION OF THE COURT

PALMER, Chief Judge:

A military judge sitting as a special court-martial convicted the appellant, pursuant to his pleas, of eight specifications of wrongful use of controlled substances, in violation of Article 112a, Uniform Code of Military Justice, 10 U.S.C. § 912a (2012). The military judge sentenced him to 100 days’ confinement, reduction to the pay grade.of E-l, forfeiture of $300.00 pay per month for three months, and a bad-conduct discharge. A pretrial agreement required, inter alia, that the convening authority (CA) suspend any adjudged punitive discharge.…
