On the 19th day of October, 1876, the appellee .George W. Clark, plaintiff in the court below, commenced his action against Samuel H. Holland, William S. Oliver and John McClure, defendants in the court below, on a certain promissory note, which is in the words and figures following :
“$200' . Little Rock, Ark., September 16th, 1871.
