O’NIELL, Chief Justice.
This is a suit for damages for slander. The plaintiff claims $25,000. He obtained judgment for $500. The defendant has appealed, and the plaintiff, answering the appeal, asks for the amount sued for.
At the time of the occurrences which brought about this suit, Peter Walsh, who is the plaintiff, was a licensed cotton weigh-er, employed at the cotton warehouse, conducted by the Board of Commissioners of the Port of New Orleans — called the dock board.
