Thomas H. Pitts, claimant herein, was, on or about June 16, 1945, employed by Cooperative Association Naval Supply Depot, at pier No. 91, Seattle, Washington, as a janitor in the cafeteria annex operated by the Cooperative. On December 9, 1945, Mr. Pitts, as a part of his duties, was on a ladder, washing windows, when he, in some manner, caught his foot on one of the rungs of the ladder and fell to the pavement, lighting on his right hip.
