This appeal arises out of an action filed in 2000 by two prisoners confined at the Supermax Correctional Institution in Bos- cobel, Wisconsin (this facility was recently renamed the Wisconsin Secure Program Facility, but for the sake of continuity, we will refer to the prison as “Supermax”). In their conditions of confinement suit, the plaintiffs asserted that they were subjected to extreme temperatures in violation of the Eighth Amendment, in addition to other claims.
