On August 22, 1936, appellants, under a contract with the state highway department, were engaged in the construction of a concrete highway from Belzoni to or beyond Silver City, and for a distance of approximately 6.770 miles. The work had been begun at Belzoni about three or four months previously, and proceeded thence southwardly towards Silver City. On the date aforesaid about one-half of the construction had been completed in so far as to admit local traffic thereon.
