The plaintiff-in-error has been convicted of involuntary manslaughter and sentenced to four years’ confinement in the penitentiary. That sentence is now before us on a writ of error.

On the afternoon of July ¿7, 1942, William E. Johnson and his wife, Lydia, were walking eastward on a bridge in Giles county which spans New River and its immediate •valley. That bridge is a thousand feet long and 23 feet wide.
