Lawrence R. Sperberg brought a class action (see Rule 23, Fed.R.Civ.P.) on October 5, 1972 against Firestone Tire and Rubber Company (hereafter termed “Firestone”), General Tire and Rubber Company (hereafter termed “General”), B. F.
