Defendants John Paul Reynoso and Julian Jesus Reynoso were jointly tried and convicted by a jury, of the first degree murder of Mario Martinez and related offenses. The trial court rejected a defense motion challenging the prosecutor’s peremptory excusal of two Hispanic jurors as unconstitutionally based on group bias. (Batson v.
