This is a suit in equity, wherein complainants allege: That Howard D. Colman, a citizen and resident of the state of Illinois, being the true, original, first, and sole inventor of certain new and useful improvements in knotting implements, not known or used by others, applied for and, in accordance with the provisions of the statutes in regard thereto and the rules of the Patent Office of the United States, obtained on the 23d day of April, 1901, letters patent of the United States, No. 672,636 for the said invention for the term of 17 years.
