Defendant, Otoniel Vasquez, appeals from the order of the circuit court of Lake County dismissing his petition for relief under the Post-Conviction Hearing Act (the Act) (725 ILCS 5/122 — 1 et seq. (West 2002)). Defendant contends that postconviction counsel rendered unreasonable assistance by failing to amend defendant’s pro se petition for postconviction relief.
