These suits were instituted by plaintiffs in error in the district courts of Cotton and Stephens coun ties, Okla., to recover various sums of money paid the defendants in error for taxes, and by other parties similarly situated, who had duly assigned their claims to the plaintiffs in error. The taxes in each and every instance were paid under protest, as provided by law, to the county treasurers, defendants in error.
