INTRODUCTION

This action arises from an agreement, made in 1969, granting owners of abutting property on Martha’s Vineyard reciprocal rights of first refusal to purchase each other’s land at a fixed price under certain circumstances, and containing other provisions regarding interests in and use of the land. Through multiple counts asserted in the amended complaint and in the counterclaim, the parties dispute the validity and interpretation of the agreement.
