The plaintiff, Thornton Smith, Jr., brought this action in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee against the defendants, hereinafter named, to recover damages in the amount of $150,000.00 plus an additional $150,000.00 as punitive damages, for alleged violations of the Civil Eights Act, Section 1983, Title 42, United States *1022Code. Subsequent amendments to the complaint alleged malicious prosecution, false arrest and false imprisonment.
