OPINION
CHAVEZ, Judge.
Claimant appeals the award of attorney fees in his workers’ compensation claim. The workers’ compensation judge (the WCJ) awarded claimant $4,000 in attorney fees after holding two hearings on claimant’s motion for attorney fees in excess of the statutory maximum on the basis of respondents’ alleged bad faith. See NMSA 1978, § 52-l-54(G) (Cum.Supp.1989). For the reasons stated below, we affirm the hearing officer’s award.
