This matter comes before the court upon a writ of certiorari and the return thereto to review an assessment for taxation in the year 1899, of property on the west side of Broadway, extending from Thirty-sixth to Thirty-seventh street, and known as the Hotel Marlborough. The assessment in question was at the sum *294of $1,185,000.
