In April 2008, five patients died and at least five patients suffered adverse episodes while undergoing dialysis at a clinic in Lufkin, Texas. Kimberly Saenz, a licensed vocational nurse employed at the dialysis clinic, was charged by indictment with five counts of aggravated assault involving five separate individuals and one count of capital murder involving five different individuals.
