The defendant, Charley Hall, was indicted for the crime of murder in the first degree, charged to have been committed by shooting John Williams. Lee Rhodes, for the State, testified: John Win-jams, a white man, and Layton Fulton, a negro, had a difficulty about some stock, and the negro knocked him down with a stick.
