Appeal from that part of a judgment of the Supreme Court (Cobb, J.), entered April 17, 1991 in Ulster County, upon a verdict in favor of plaintiff, which awarded plaintiff punitive damages.

This action arose out of an accident that occurred December 3, 1988 on Ulster Avenue in the Town of Ulster, Ulster County, when plaintiff’s car was struck in the rear by defendant’s vehicle as she waited to make a left-hand turn.
