ANDERSON, Circuit Judge:
This case involves a large conspiracy to distribute cocaine in the Southeastern United States. A grand jury indictment returned on April 15,1985 charged seventeen defendants with eighteen counts of various narcotic and gun offenses.
Following a jury trial appellant Carlos Cruz, the alleged ringleader of the conspiracy, was found guilty of twelve counts of possessing cocaine with the intent to distribute it in violation of 21 U.S.C. § 841(a)(1), one count of conspiring with others to possess cocaine with the intent to distribute it in violation of 21 U.S.C. § 846, one…
