Nathaniel P. Perry, of Kent, in this state, died in 1849, then being the owner of twenty shares of the preferred stock of the Housatonic Railroad Co., which was known as eight per cent cumulative stock; so called because the company guaranteed to its holders dividends from profits earned, at the rate of eight per cent per annum, before the common stock could participate in any division of earnings ; he also was the owner of six shares of the common stock of said company.
