MOORMAN, Judge:
The appellant, veteran Santiago M. Juarez, appeals through counsel a January 3, 2005, decision of the Board of Veterans’ Appeals (Board) that denied an effective date earlier than August 1, 1997, for the grant of service connection for the appellant’s back condition. The parties each filed briefs, and the appellant filed a reply brief. Thereafter, the Court heard oral arguments in the case. For the reasons that follow, the Court will modify the decision on appeal to remove from that decision the Board’s statement regarding the status of the August 1955 RO decision and affirm…
