Appeal from a judgment of the County Court of Albany County (Harris, J.), rendered December 16, 1986, upon a verdict convicting defendant of the crime of manslaughter in the first degree.
At approximately 5:30 a.m. on August 7, 1986 defendant and his live-in girlfriend, Doris White, allegedly had an argument at their apartment in the City of Albany. Defendant claims that White hit him with an empty wine bottle and threatened him with a kitchen knife. During the ensuing *770struggle, White was strangled by defendant and then dropped to the floor.
