Defendant was convicted of the crime of taking indecent liberties with 5-year old Cornelia Root in the city of Flint and sentenced to a minimum of 9 and a maximum of 10 years in the State prison. Cornelia testified that defendant enticed her into his home on promise of giving her a balloon, and there took the liberties, without, however, any attempt at other assault. There had been no former acquaintance between Cornelia and defendant. The charge was denied by defendant and his wife. The surrounding circumstances were meager, and the issue was one of veracity of witnesses.
