CARNES, Circuit Judge:

Bankruptcy trustee Robert Allen (“the Trustee”) appeals from the district court’s ruling that debtor Lois Imogene Green exempted the full value of a personal injury lawsuit from her bankruptcy estate. We affirm.

I. BACKGROUND

Green filed a petition for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection in February 1991. As part of her petition, Green submitted both a schedule of personal property and a schedule of property claimed as exempt. On her personal property schedule, under a heading for “[cjontingent and unliquidated claims of every nature,” Green reported a “lawsuit from auto…
