On the trial of this ■ cause in the Circuit Court, the plaintiff read in evi- ' dence a patent from the United States to Robert P. Crane, bearing date the 9th day of May, A. D. 1842, for certain lots or tracts of land, within which is embraced the particular land .now in controversy. He also gave in evidence a quit-claim deed from Robert P.
