SULLIVAN, Chief Judge:
In August 1989, appellant was tried by a military judge sitting alone as a special court-martial at Fort Hood, Texas. Pursuant to his pleas, he was found guilty of a 4-day unauthorized absence, in violation of *346Article 86, Uniform Code of Military Justice, 10 USC § 886. Contrary to his pleas, he was found guilty of wrongfully using cocaine, in violation of Article 112a, UCMJ, 10 USC § 912a. He was sentenced to a bad-conduct discharge, confinement and forfeiture of $250 pay per month for 3 months, and reduction to E-1. The Court of Military Review…
